Located in a beautifully preserved 13th-century Devon longhouse, Bearslake Inn is a charming thatched pub nestled between Okehampton and Tavistock in the picturesque hamlet of Bridestowe. This 6-room inn offers a warm welcome, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, alongside locally brewed real ales and fine wines. Dog-friendly rooms and a peaceful retreat with on-site parking make it ideal for Dartmoor explorers.

The architecture of the 18th‑century pub is nice. The room and bathroom are very Spartan and lack heating. Bedding is dated. The room’s cleanliness is questionable. The décor is old‑fashioned, with no attention to detail. The breakfast served in the room does not fully match the order; you have to make your own coffee and tea. No knife, but two spoons each! The value for money is very, very bad.

I missed breakfast because it wasn't served, only a hamper was left, so it would have been nice to have had some food before we left. The location is right next to Dartmoor. The meal was very good but felt rather expensive.

Everything was spot on; this place is simply perfect. It’s very dog friendly, so we brought our new puppy along. The staff were wonderful, the room was stunning, and the food was absolutely delicious 😋.
