We were close to the sea, the staff were very helpful, and the breakfast buffet was lovely. The street noise between the hotel and the shoreline was a bit annoying, and the room felt a bit spartan.

The hotel sits in a very central spot in Gallipoli; driving in takes about 30 minutes to the city centre, and we booked a spot in the private garage—everything ran smoothly. The rooftop terrace was great; we enjoyed an aperitif with sunset there. Breakfast had a wide selection and was very good. We had actually booked the hotel mainly for the rooftop breakfast, but by late September it was only served downstairs—understandable because of the wind that first day, but still disappointing. The room with a side sea view did not match the pictures; there was no single comfortable chair or armchair in the room as shown in the photos. When I asked, a chair was put in the room, but it was extremely old and small, so not very usable. In the end we spent most of our time out and about rather than in the room.

The room was lovely with partial sea views that were almost total sea views—there’s a building between the hotel and the sea, but our room (20) was positioned just right to see the sea. Lower floors would have only partial views. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was excellent, even with the local seagulls watching. Evening drinks while house martins flew around was also an experience. Getting there by car is easy once you’re brave enough to drive into the old town; it’s on the outer ring road. Reception will handle the ZTL registration so you won’t be charged. Finally, seeing sparrows roosting in the central courtyard tree in the evenings was quite a sight too! It was all good.
