“Gorgeous homestay and thoughtful owners”

The management at Upstay Shaxi clearly puts effort into running the place and ensuring guests enjoy themselves. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, just as we expected. Dahua and his family were friendly, attentive, and fantastic throughout our stay. After a long land transfer we arrived in the afternoon, and Feng Yin immediately asked if we were hungry and then quickly prepared a superb lunch. If you need dinner, let the staff know ahead of time and try their homemade meals at least once; Feng Yin and her sister cook wonderfully, and those dinners were wholesome, nourishing, and one of the highlights of our visit. No complaints.

My family of five spent four nights here and we absolutely loved it. Dahua, the host, took great care of us, preparing tasty breakfasts and dinners with local products just for us. The place is very clean, modern, and well maintained. We loved our room as well as the shared spaces, especially the library and the living/dining room. Dahua also lent us bikes to explore Shaxi, including a bike for our five‑year‑old daughter, which is quite rare to find in China. He also gave us a ride to go hiking in the surrounding area. Shibao Mountain and Haiyunju were both wonderful places to visit. Shaxi is an amazing little town: peaceful, charming, and full of character. We strongly recommend this place to families and to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and recharge for a few days!

“A beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by fields”

The hotel sits in a traditional house in a residential area outside the historic center, but still within walking distance. The hosts are charming and even came to pick us up when it was raining. The food is outstanding and the rooms are great. I would have liked to stay a few more days.

“Far better than expected!😊”

The homestay turned out to be even prettier than the pictures, and it quickly became the highlight of our trip. Dahua and his family were incredibly welcoming—they arranged a full‑day hill excursion with a picnic, pony rides and even a little hand‑made archery session, then drove us to the caves where monkeys roamed and the views were spectacular.

We loved staying here; the owner was friendly, spoke English, and made us feel right at home. The surrounding scenery is simply gorgeous, making it an easy recommendation.
