“Overnight train ride.”
We booked the Modern Boy Room for a fun experience and it delivered. Finding the place was easy whether you arrive by bus or metro. It sits on a shady side street but is still near a GS25, restaurants, cafés, and a Lotte mall. We had a small hiccup at check‑in because the system didn’t recognize our reservation number, but the girl at the speaker helped us right away. The name and style draw inspiration from the Japanese colonial era, when Seoul Station was still called Gyeongseong Station, finished in 1925. The space is tight, the stairs are a bit narrow, so it feels like the inside of a train. The room itself was small; we couldn’t turn around with backpacks in the hallway. Otherwise it was clean and well equipped (AC, air purifier, big flat screen, Bluetooth speaker, electric kettle—no tea provided, incense for those who like it, a toilet with a bidet, hairdryer, basic amenities), just minimal. We expected that. There’s also a feature to play train noise in the background for the ultimate experience, which you can turn on or off as you wish. There’s no window, but since we only stayed one night we didn’t need to look outside. The aroma oils everywhere were a bit overwhelming for me because I’m sensitive to smells, so I ran the AC the whole time we were inside.
