The hotel is in a great spot for exploring South Wales; it’s a five‑minute walk to many local restaurants and a ten‑minute walk from both the train station and the bus depot, so we could catch a bus or train to almost anywhere in South Wales within fifteen minutes after breakfast. Oh, and the breakfasts were great!

The location was up a side street in the middle of Bridgend, and the GPS was definitely helpful in finding it. The street was very quiet. The decoration and cleanliness of the hotel were exceptional, with décor that looked freshly done. The fittings were of a very high standard, with accessories such as cups etc being Villeroy and Boch – a very nice touch. The bar and dining area were beautifully set out with a distinctly Spanish style. Breakfast was great, offering a wide choice from full English to Spanish classics. The room was on the smaller side but had a king‑size bed and high‑quality en‑suite facilities, including a rain shower. The staff were very good. This was a lucky find but we will be back – loved it! The only downside is that if the hotel is full (only 7 rooms) parking may be an issue, as there are only 3 spaces on site and time‑limited street parking; public car parks are reasonably close.

The hotel sits in a convenient spot and the staff were helpful, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and the outdoor seating area was pleasant with a lovely view of the river from the restaurant, but parking was a problem – only three spots were available, and the Spanish food was a bit hit‑or‑miss, with the late‑night mushroom and chips snack tasting rather bland.

Breakfast was delightful and the rooms were spotless, but the bathrobe was too small – it felt snug and wouldn’t have fit a man of my size 10.
