This was our second Game Lodge, so we had a basis for comparison. The grounds aren’t huge, but there’s a small pool where you can spend some time. The cottages are fairly standard—nothing fancy, but they have everything you need and we had no complaints. The evening safari starts around 4 PM, lasts about three hours, and includes a brief picnic at sunset. Dinner follows the safari; it’s an à la carte meal with drinks charged separately. The food is pretty standard—appetizer, main course, and dessert—of decent quality, though certainly not Michelin‑starred. The morning safari sets off at 7 AM, with coffee available beforehand. Afterward, there is a fantastic breakfast; we were lucky with the weather, so dining outdoors was delightful. I’d like to give a special shout‑out to our guide, Prospan; he made both trips unforgettable. We saw all the animals, learned a lot of interesting facts, and took amazing photos. It gets VERY chilly during the morning safari, so be sure to dress warmly. Furthermore, the Lodge is located quite far from everything; you have to drive the last 15 km along a dirt road. The GPS initially took us to the nearest town, from which there was still another 40‑minute drive. In total, the journey from Stellenbosch took nearly two and a half hours. It would be great if the schedule were posted somewhere—either on the Game Lodge’s website or directly. Check‑in starts at 2:00 PM; we arrived at 3:10 PM and were told we had already missed lunch. If you arrive after 4:00 PM, you also miss the evening safari.
