“Extrem enttäuschend. Sehr bemühter Concierge. Hätte mir sofort bestätigt, dass das Zimmer unzumutbar war, ich hätte aber”
The location is top, just a few minutes’ walk from Kings Cross; the room assigned to me was in a barrack in the courtyard, dark and smelling extremely moldy. Of the 7 light spots on the ceiling, only one worked. The air was so damp that the sheets were wet. I complained and received an available “family room.” Three beds were packed closely together, a large hole in the window (thankfully it wasn’t cold). It was extremely run-down. Fixtures were broken, there were water damages on the ceiling, and there was no way to lock the room from the inside. It also smelled of cold smoke.
“Boutique hotel in very convenient location.”
A boutique‑style hotel on Argyle Square, with good shower pressure and temperature control, and a room that was basically an annex or outhouse building—acceptable. Three staff members I met were very pleasant and friendly, and the WiFi worked well. The location is great, close to Kings Cross St Pancras stations and the underground. The room had a slight damp smell, and I walked around Argyle Square three times looking for a “Melville” sign only to discover it’s actually Roksy; it seems the hotel has recently changed ownership, with Exelsior, Melville and Roksy all linked to it. Some sheets of plasterboard and plywood were propped in the access corridor, so some upgrading work is probably coming. Breakfast isn’t offered, but there are plenty of nearby options.
“Dirty, mouldy and unsafe - would avoid.”
The only decent thing about this place was the location, but it was otherwise a nightmare – filthy, mouldy, and unsafe, leaving both my partner and me feeling sick. I’m demanding compensation or a refund for our stay.
“Good location, but overall a little underwhelming.”
The proximity to Kings Cross and St. Pancras stations is the main plus; the rooms are old-fashioned with worn fittings and furniture.
The location is good, but it isn’t clean.
