“Beautiful stay in French countryside”
Château de Preuil exceeded our expectations, and they were high already, based on the pictures and reviews. Conveniently located only 10 min away from the A71, the Château is situated on an estate of 21ha and is surrounded by forests, a farm etc. The surroundings are spectacular, and invite for a short or longer walk, mountain biking etc. The style of the Château (according to the current owners, who bought it 13 years ago, it's a mid 19th century country house built by a desendent one of Napoleon's former field marshals) is very well maintained. You feel like you're French noblesse :) The hosts are very nice and hospitable. They speak English very well. We had the 'Orchid' room, which is very large, very nicely decorated in 19th century style, with a good quality bed and modern bathroom. Besides the rooms in the house itself, the owners als built a high-quality guest house that fits a family, with a pool, tennis court etc. There's a gym as well. Breakfast is outstanding and of high quality. With a lot of ingredients from the estate, like fresh fig marmelade, eggs, etc. So a really lovely, high quality, luxury (yet down to earth) B&B, at a very good price of €165 for two, owned by a really nice couple. Nothing to improve (we didn't need an airco; maybe the rooms are hot in the Summer?)
