The pension is a few steps from Cetate, with a large courtyard and plenty of greenery. The hosts are welcoming. You can eat at the owners’ pension, which is very close. The mattresses or beds could be replaced, hot water arrived very slowly, and small repairs in the room would not ruin it. I didn’t like the kitchen area.

We stayed in 5, with 2 adults and 3 kids (4.5, 2.5, 1 year old). From the first look at the listing, I could tell the owners focused more on the garden and exterior than on the rooms, scrolling through dozens of outside photos and only a handful of inside ones. I figured that was probably because it’s an old house that’s been renovated and rented out, so we were fine with that and had no design expectations. The kitchen is in a separate room in the yard, which didn’t bother us at all, as we could use the small table in the hallway at the entrance. The bathroom in one of the rooms also didn’t bother us, being a family with small kids who rarely go to the bathroom alone. Pluses: central heating, decent warmth, an air‑therm in the kitchen that could be used for heating the bathroom where there’s no radiator, friendly and sociable owners. Initially, we decided to give private feedback about the presence of moths (3 were taken out of the house and 2 still inside), dead flies on the floor, and spiders in the corners. We also mentioned the worn sheets, blankets, and towels, assuming they were at least washed or cleaned, the empty soap dish in the bathroom, the lack of a small bin in the hallway or even outside where you could toss a napkin, the bed in the bathroom‑room with two mattresses of different heights that had at least 5 blankets/sheets on it, the worn kitchen sponges and their wear, and the filthy mop with leftover dirt in the bucket. All that until we gathered the sheet from the bed and saw what we slept on. At that moment we felt annoyed and got nervous knowing what we slept on, and one of the kids even had a face. A mattress of indescribable quality (not as obvious in the photos). That’s when we understood. It’s not about the limited possibilities of the area, as we naively thought, but an acute lack of care for the health and respect of your guests! If the mattress looks like that and there’s only a worn sheet on it, you can only ask: 1. No one says to change the mattress every year, but at least use a waterproof cover? 2. Was the worn sheet at least washed? 3. The blanket on one of the beds was sewn to the cover. How did they wash the cover?! Or did they just “air‑dry” the blanket with the cover and let sweat/microbes stay there? 4. The blankets on the bed with two mattresses… after use, do they wash them? How many of them?! Or were they just “air‑dried”? And other questions… The booking was made about 3 weeks ago. During that time, did you think about removing the moths? Removing the flies? Removing the spiders even from the corners if not from the closet where they had a nest? Buying a new sponge? A new sheet? Changing the mop?!

The location and the owners were great, but the beds and mattresses were not.
