The property is on the water, a great spot to watch wildlife, and offers boat tours into Cano Negro. The cabin was huge with a large outdoor patio, and cooking was available in the open community kitchen in the middle of the cabins. Screens are on all doors and windows. Nothing else to note.

I liked the straightforward, no‑frills vibe of the place, it was very basic but I got exactly what I needed.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and we even went on a bird‑watching boat trip with one of the sons, who was very knowledgeable and kind. The room was spacious, basic but fine. There’s a restaurant next to the lodge that’s worth a visit. The only downside was the shower water being cold.

The location at Caño Negro is stunning, and the restaurant right next to Poponjoche Lodge is excellent.

The family running this place were super friendly and helpful, answering all my questions. I had an amazing time on the boat tours, and I think Caño Negro Park is a must-visit when in Costa Rica - it's a birdwatcher's paradise, with tons of wildlife like caimans, iguanas, and monkeys to spot. Plus, there's a great restaurant right next door.
