“Don’t stay here”
The location was fine, but the bedroom had stained carpets that need improvement, the tiny bathroom lacked a shelf, and the breakfast was poor.

The breakfast was awesome and the room was comfortable, with no complaints.

The historic building kept its original charm, the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast was fabulous, but the floor in Room 3 is uneven from the door to the side of the bed, so keep that in mind. At 6.45 am on Tuesday, a council recycling lorry parked under our window to collect what looked like glass from the whole street; it took about 25 minutes, and this was clearly not the fault of The George.

The room was roomy and fully equipped, with little extras like water hand cream, tea, coffee, biscuits, and more. Breakfast was excellent, served by friendly, attentive staff. The downside was the road noise—our room faced the street, and the old building had no sound‑proofing in the windows, so traffic was audible. Some furnishings looked a bit shabby.

The location was great for exploring the South Downs. The room felt cramped, the lighting was poor, and the plumbing was subpar.
