“Memorable stay in Boquete”

What a memorable stay! We were looking for a peaceful accommodation, we found a slice of paradise at Cabañas San Miguel. The apartment was perfect for us. Beds are clean & very comfortable, bedside table & lamp, ceiling fans provided. Wifi worked well. Fabulous mountain views can be taken in from the upper floors Juliet balconies. The bathroom was hygienic & the hot water shower had great pressure. Loved the kitchen for preparing & sharing meals - well equipped with everything we needed to cook. The garden is an absolute highlight too - Highly recommend a stay with Jose. He is a wonderful host, genuinely cares about his guests, always available & responsive. A very kind man. We hope to return one day 🙏. Everything was fabulous! 😍

We found no positives that could offset the problems with safety, maintenance, cleanliness, service, and staff handling. Note that the person who attends is the owner. My wife, our 7‑year‑old son, my 72‑year‑old mother‑in‑law, and I stayed there. The accommodation had significant moisture and was generally poorly maintained. On the first night, the king bed collapsed and fell to the floor during normal use. My wife was at the foot of the bed and could have been injured. We have photos and videos of what happened. The owner’s solution was to remove the frame and leave the mattress directly on the floor, claiming the issue was resolved. In another room we found another bed in bad condition, torn sheets, and a fan with a lot of dust buildup. We had paid for two nights in advance. Because of these conditions, we decided to leave after the first night and requested a refund for the unused second night. The owner refused and told us to “fix it with Booking.” In front of other guests, he claimed without evidence that “the safest” explanation was that my 7‑year‑old son had been jumping on the bed. He also said that, given the price paid, that was what we were entitled to receive because “it was not a hotel but a hostel.” When I asked for a complaint form to document the issue, he said he didn’t know what that was. An inexpensive accommodation still requires basic safety, cleanliness, and maintenance standards. Very bad experience.

The surroundings are beautiful, the space is comfortable, and the owner/staff are friendly. The TV was missing, there was no microwave, and the neighbors next door were loud and disruptive. The town was too far to walk, but everything else was lovely.
