The place was clean, the shower was great, the towels were good, and there was enough bedding. The TV stream in the room sometimes didn’t work properly because the internet is quite spotty. The gym is tiny and not great – it only has a few light weights, a treadmill, and a bike, nothing that lets you do full workouts. The front‑desk staff were rude when we arrived, unlike the friendly people we met on other days. Breakfast could be better for the price; it’s just the basics with a few occasional extras that don’t match the room rate, and we always had to wait in line for coffee—lines of more than ten people ahead of us. Finally, someone entered our room without permission: the housekeeper knocked on the door asking if we wanted a fridge refill, and when we didn’t answer, she opened the door. I felt our privacy was invaded.

The room was comfortable and pleasant, with a good shower, good sheets, and a nice bed. Breakfast was small, and we had to line up on both days I was there; it was disorganized and the guests had to organize themselves.

Nothing good. The stay was horrible. We had a terrible experience at Intercity Cidade Baixa: 1) the hotel was overcrowded and it took 10 minutes to get into the elevator; 2) we couldn’t have breakfast at the hotel because there was a queue of over 20 minutes outside the restaurant—one of the biggest absurdities I’ve ever seen in a hotel; 3) the double room had only two towels for drying, so how does a woman dry her hair? 4) The bottled water was awful, especially the sparkling—either you drink it in one gulp or it loses its fizz; 5) when I raised the issues to the receptionist, I was treated with indifference and told, “the hotel is at full capacity, just wait and you’ll be able to have breakfast.” It was almost a plea to be attended to. In short, the hotel does everything to give you a bad experience, and it succeeded. This is the first and last time I’ll stay at Intercity Cidade Baixa.
