Being close to the Hay Market station and having a view of the place we were visiting from the room was great. The downside was that in the bathroom the light and extractor fan would turn on automatically and keep running for a while after we left, which was annoying at night.

I was hit with unexpected parking fees, the parking spot was inconvenient, and the breakfast was disappointing.

The room was clean and spacious, the staff were friendly, and the location offered an optimal commute to Edinburgh’s centre. The hotel, a relic of its heyday, needs a refresh. Breakfast (extra paid) was rather modest, and the room lighting was quite “aggressive,” with no way to turn off parts of the lamps.
