Best Western Inn & Suites - Midway Airport

When I first checked in, the front desk girl was not friendly at all. Stood in front of her for a good minute or two until she said something. However all the other workers I encountered were great and friendly. Getting in and out of the hotel location was difficult since it’s on a busy street and I had difficulty sleeping at night due to the cars/busyness of the street. When we got into our hotel room, it smelled like pee. We found 2 ants on one of the beds. Elevator seemed like it was going to stop working. The ‘renovation’ that I’ve seen people leave review on is mediocre. The painting job inside the room was not done well. Pressure of the shower was so low. Window curtains are definitely old

“Room great, lobby bad”

The room itself was clean and had no bedbugs or other issues. There was a cigarette burn hole in the curtain, but I wasn’t too worried about that. Staff were friendly, breakfast was okay, and the location was nice. The ceiling in the lobby and entryway was heavily damaged by wet spots, mold, and holes where insulation was peeking out. Some of the ceiling vents were starting to fall off, which was the only problem I had with the hotel.

The beds were comfy and everyone was nice. It looked like they were in the middle of remodeling and painting. Breakfast wasn’t very good, and the curtains were a bit worn; I couldn’t close them enough to block out street light or sunlight.

The room was clean, and the breakfast was a basic American buffet that kept us from getting hungry. Room 100 was on the first floor right next to the road, so the hotel is basically on a busy street and you can expect a lot of noise both day and night, which I didn’t like. The cleaning was good, but on the last night when my husband and I returned to the room in the evening, we found the door slightly open, meaning anyone could have entered our room while we were away. I suspect the cleaner didn’t fully close the door after tidying up, which spoiled our impression of the hotel. Nothing was lost (the room is in a far corner of the corridor, separate from the others), but the fact that this happened was bad for the hotel.
