I stayed in an traditional Korean hanok in Ando, feeling as if I had time‑slipped back centuries with its overwhelming depth of history. From the moment I stepped inside, the warmth of wood and refined traditional beauty relaxed me. At night I watched a beautiful garden in silence, and in the morning I woke to clear air—an unparalleled healing experience that modern hotels can’t match. I’m grateful for the host’s hospitality, who preserved the history and welcomed us warmly. It was a special stay I’ll never forget!

The house was very traditional inside the hanok village. Traditional Korean dinner and American breakfast were included. We slept on the floor as tradition dictates. The owner kindly gave us a tour of the house, showing many historic family relics. The downside was that the bathroom was outside the room and had no windows, which is part of the traditional custom.

Staying in a traditional house in the river‑round village was a memorable experience. Though the building is old, it’s well preserved and the room is comfortable. After breakfast, host Liu gave us a careful tour of the estate. The water facilities being in a separate building was inconvenient, but I see it as part of the historical experience.
