“A faultless, divine stay - dining and bespoke accommodation!”
Shalob was attentive from the moment we booked, and his attention to detail is unquestionable. The entire premises focuses on renewable practices and is gentle on the landscape. It sits privately along the sacred, enlivening Alaknanda, a Himalayan river in Uttarakhand, India, and one of the two headstreams of the Ma Ganga, also known as the Ganges. I would not mention the meals less—absolutely superb, organic, and locally sourced ingredients. We traveled as a group and everyone unanimously voted to return and extend our stay, taking a night off elsewhere. In recent years we always favored Rishikesh, but it has become very crowded and busy. This is where I recommend spending a few days soaking in the ambience of peace and beauty, perfect for travelers visiting sacred sites in the region. What I did not like was leaving! The following is tips, not a dislike: Shalob will advise you where to park or where a taxi drops off. Staff will meet you to carry luggage. From there it’s a lovely little forested pathway to the accommodation and the Alaknanda River. The site is undisturbed and walking along the river is easy. They also offer kayaking expeditions.
