Nordic Hostel

The welcome from the staff was very warm, and the room’s location and access to showers after the bike race were convenient. The lack of respect from other guests regarding the toilets (cleanliness) and the noisy closing of doors at night were disappointing.

“Gut, aber preislich eher am oberen Ende für ein Hostel”

This modern hostel has all the basics you’d expect, but it’s a bit on the pricey side for a hostel. There’s no dinner service, and for breakfast you have to leave the premises to the nearby hotel.

“Die Fränkli nehmen sie gern, Service ist ein Fremdwort”

I never got a receipt for my stay, even though they promised one. The same happened with the tourist tax: the receptionist tried to print it, the printer jammed, she said she’d email it but never did, and I got no reply to my written request. On top of that, the room only had cold tap water.

“Moderne Unterkunft für alle, die keine gehobenen Hotelansprüche haben”

This place is basically a sports hostel at the biathlon center, styled like a modern youth hostel. In summer it’s almost empty, and for breakfast you have to walk a few hundred meters to Hotel Sarain for a tasty buffet. The hostel staff are friendly and run a small bistro, but the coordination with the hotel could use a tweak. Still, everything worked out.

Great value, everything spotless and staff friendly. Breakfast and wellness at neighboring Sarain, family biathlon for 160 CHF. But once, a party at 1 a.m. made the place unbearably loud, the reception was empty and I couldn’t get anyone to talk to, and the room was very noisy.
