It felt like a cozy hideaway in a beautiful spot—quiet, peaceful, and finished nicely. Mike has taken great care of it; he’s a talented guy who created a stunning cabin. The blackout blinds opened to reveal amazing views in the morning, and there were nice local foods for breakfast. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and the mattress needs replacing, but otherwise it’s a lovely place to stay.

We loved the view; in the middle of nowhere we could only hear birds and animals, which made it very quiet, and the shower was lovely. The sofa bed was terrible, we barely slept because it kept sinking, and we had to put a mattress on the floor early in the morning; we didn’t get a good night’s sleep at all. I believe you have pets, as there was pet hair on the bedding and towels. Some facilities listed in the description were clearly missing at the lodge.

We spent a single night at Coombe Park Retreat and already wish we could have stayed longer. From the moment we stepped in, Mike welcomed us like old friends. My partner and I were heading to Lewis Capaldi’s show at Powderham, just a few miles away, but once we arrived we decided to relax on the veranda with a glass of wine, enjoying the valley view instead of the concert. We eventually did go to the show, but the stay itself was flawless: the room was huge, the shower and kitchen were generous and fully equipped, everything was spotless, ultra‑modern, and thoughtfully arranged. It was simply brilliant, and we’re already planning our next visit. Thanks, Mike, for your generous hospitality.
