“Dated room, not a good host.”
The location was convenient for getting around Rome, and in the heart of Trastevere you can walk to most spots or catch a tram or bus. I gave it a 5.0/10 because we were quite disappointed and would not recommend this property. Check‑in was scheduled for 1 pm, but the night before I asked if an earlier 11 am/12 pm check‑in was possible because our flight arrived earlier. The host replied quickly saying yes. We arrived at 12 pm—an hour before the official check‑in—to find the room not ready: the cleaner hadn’t come, the air conditioning was broken, and the window was broken. The host said the rooms weren’t ready but we could leave our bags and return. I raised concerns about the messiness and dirtiness, noting that check‑in was at 1 pm and the cleaner was still nowhere to be seen by 12:30. I was then told we could come back at 3 pm, which we objected to because we had a tour booked and paid for a 1 pm check‑in. The host said to come back at 1 pm and everything would be ready. At 1 pm we found the cleaner had just arrived and said she’d need another 45 minutes. We were unhappy but had no choice; we returned 45 minutes later and the room was still not ready because the air‑conditioning crew had come to fix the unit. Our check‑in was an hour late, delaying our tour. No proper apology or compensation was offered. It was absolutely unprofessional and a very bad start to our trip. We had to tell the air‑conditioning guys to leave the room and return later so we could get ready and leave for our pre‑booked, paid tour. This was super frustrating for several reasons: 1. The host promised an earlier check‑in that wasn’t possible; 2. The room was still a complete mess and dirty from the previous stay when we arrived and remained dirty by check‑in time.
