A short history
Tswana hunters originally called the thermal spring Bela-Bela, meaning 'water that boils by itself'. Voortrekker settlers established a town around the springs in 1882, naming it Warmbad (Warmbaths). The South African government officially renamed the town back to Bela-Bela in 2002 to reflect its indigenous origin.
