Grand View Guest House

The location and view are really great, and it was very easy to get to from Haputale town, so I’d recommend it for someone looking for a low‑budget stay with a great view and easy access. However, the hot water supply was unsatisfactory and the TV had poor viewing quality.

We had a truly relaxing stay with a beautiful scenic view that lived up to the name; the surroundings were peaceful and perfect for unwinding. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming throughout our visit, making it a great place to enjoy nature, comfort, and excellent hospitality.

The hotel was close to the railway station, which was convenient since we needed an overnight stay in Haputale before heading south the next morning. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, but everything was so quiet because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. We were the only guests in the hotel and in the restaurant when we left, which gave the town a sad atmosphere. As the name implies, it did have amazing views.

“Hôtels à ne pas retenir”

There was no reception, the breakfast was not great, the sheets had a stain, and the room door wouldn’t lock from the inside; we had to use a window to lock it from the outside and then re-enter through the window. The shower was unsuitable for short people, with the water opening and closing at a very high level. We enjoyed the tours around Haputale, but the hotel itself was not at all acceptable, so we refused to stay in the first hotel.

The spot is pretty good, but it would help to have two towels, soap, and tea in the bed area.
