The location was great, within walking distance of Ueno station on a quiet street, yet the photos on Booking showed different apartments so you can’t tell which one you’ll get; we were on the ground floor with only a front-facing window, no windows could be opened, and the bedroom had no window at all (dark but inconvenient for easing jet‑lag). The apartment felt damp and we couldn’t ventilate it.

I could stay here affordably, but there were a lot of hair on the floor and a slight odor around the kitchen area.

The location and size are great for Tokyo, but the shower tiles were quite mouldy and I had to clean the worst part before using it. No detergent for the washing machine was provided, though 7‑11 was nearby for cheap supplies. The bed in the first upstairs bedroom sinks to the middle, which I had seen mentioned elsewhere, so it wasn’t a surprise.

The space is surprisingly large, the bed comfortable, and the small kitchen has everything you need; the shower and toilet are in separate rooms, which is handy for two people but didn’t matter to me as a solo traveler. It’s near Ueno station, a major transit hub, and also close to a smaller station. The big TV was great for lazy late nights, and check‑in and check‑out were super simple. I was on the ground floor so I didn’t need stairs, but they were tight enough that bringing a suitcase up was a bit of a struggle.
