“Relaxing stay in Humboldt County”
This is the original private home in Ferndale, built by one of the founders between 1854‑66. The house is filled with antique furniture and rugs, high ceilings, and many authentic touches. One of the owners greeted us warmly. Breakfast was included and fantastic—made by a cook from a nearby farm, so the eggs, honey, bacon, and veggies were fresh. We enjoyed fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, blueberry bread pudding (delicious!), and a tasty quiche over our two mornings. A truly relaxing two days in Ferndale. If you visit, don’t miss the Ferndale History Museum—there’s so much interesting stuff. Nothing really negative, just the quirks you’d expect from a 250‑year‑old house.
