“We had to check earlier because of the quality”

The bungalow offered a lovely view of a large garden and a central swimming pool in Ubud, but the property is behind a busy market street and you enter through a stall. The owner didn’t seem very hospitable, and although the bungalow looked clean, there was a general sense of dirt. Several nights, lizards and geckos crawled up the walls, a typical Bali practice that we hadn’t seen elsewhere. Because of this, we checked out a day early out of three.

The place is a pretty corner in the heart of Ubud, everything is close, and once you pass the gate you feel like you’re in a small quiet paradise. The rooms look like the pictures. The rooms are clearly a bit old, but the photos reflect that. It could be a bit cleaner, and in room 9 the Wi‑Fi had poor reception.

The place sits in a superb spot, just about 5 minutes on foot from Ubud’s center, yet remains pleasantly quiet. It’s right on Kajeng Road beside a small market. At around €10 per night, the value for money is unbeatable. The room has its own bathroom, a nice pool, and the grounds are lush and natural. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and extending the stay by a night was hassle‑free. Cleanliness could be a touch better in some areas, and there were occasional minor communication hiccups with the staff, but everything worked out in the end.
