“Beautiful property”
Julia and David were amazing hosts. The cottage looked beautiful in a remote part of Harris. The biggest grocery shop is in Stornoway, and a much smaller shop is about fifteen minutes away by car. The cottage had everything you could possibly need, plus a welcome basket that was a lovely surprise. The location and scenery were superb, and watching eagles land and feed just over the road from the cottage was a highlight of our holiday. Nothing was wrong; it was perfect.
The spot offers an amazing view, the house is very functional and pleasant, and Julia welcomed us warmly and was always available.
“Beyond expectations!”
The location is fantastic, the place is impeccably clean, fully equipped, the hosts are kind and helpful, and the bed is extremely comfortable.
“Let not a lodge”
The location and view were beautiful and the stay was very clean. The hosts left free toiletries and a lovely bottle of wine, and the coffee we used was a great touch. The ironing board was good, the shower was fantastic, and towels and a robe were provided. The two green chairs meant to relax were uncomfortable; a sofa would have been better, even though the listing said there was one. Sitting at a table chair was the main issue. The bedroom was upstairs, far from the bathroom, and the wooden stairs required turning on a light to go downstairs, which woke us up. Our feet were slightly wet from the shower floor, which made us slip. A carpet down the middle and better lighting would help; the small night light at the bottom was inadequate. We were unaware the owners were staying on the property during our visit. We had wanted to bring small dogs, but the information pack said dogs were not allowed upstairs or on any furniture, which wasn’t clear in the booking. The private patio was overlooked by the hosts’ living room, preventing us from sitting outside. We tried to use the heating to dry clothes but couldn’t figure out how, which was our fault for not asking. This is an honest review; we’re not inclined to rate it as good or bad, but if we had known the owners lived there, we probably wouldn’t have booked this holiday because it’s not a lodge and we would have wanted more privacy.
“Wonderful stay, weather was not kind but we made the most of it.”
We adored the Lodge; it was cozy, situated in a stunning locale, and our hosts were delightful.
