The food was amazing. We booked all three restaurants that were available. Each had a good selection and excellent service. If you asked for a drink they didn’t have, they would go to another restaurant to get it instead of just saying no. For example, my nephew wanted chocolate milk; they went to the buffet to get it (we didn’t realize until later). The buffet was spectacular. Some staples were there each meal, but it changed daily, giving a chance to try new things I wouldn’t normally try elsewhere because of cost. For me, any buffet with pancakes and bacon for breakfast gets 5 stars, but there was so much more. The rooms were exceptionally clean. We had a stocked fridge with water, soda, apple juice boxes and even beer. We were celebrating my 50th birthday there. Housekeeping decorated our room with a banner on the door, balloons everywhere, and towels wrapped in ribbons shaped like a birthday cake. The staff always acknowledged you when you passed, no matter what they were doing. The complimentary sun punch at the entrance and the jamaica were outstanding. My niece and I got massages while there. It cost extra, but it was totally worth it. We shared the same room. The scents and ambiance relaxed us immediately. Then the massage. We didn’t want to leave. It rained a few days while we were there. The rainy‑day entertainment was fun. Even the entertainment on non‑rainy days and nights was fun. Most of it was in Spanish, but they often translated it. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you could understand what was happening. They were so energetic, it was contagious. We called maintenance because our shower wasn’t hot; the water was lukewarm. He came right away. It turned out to be user error. Sometimes the food labeling at the buffet wasn’t clear, so it was hard to know what you were getting. You need a towel card to get a towel for the pool. They give one per guest in the room. If you lose the card, you can’t get a towel. Also, you must turn the cards in at checkout or you’ll be charged. There were tons of pigeons and crows around the swimming area. If you left any food or drink unattended they would swarm it. A guy with a trained hawk would fly the hawk up to a balcony and call it back to keep the birds away; it worked well, but he wasn’t always there. They serve smoothies at the coffee bar, but not until after 12. I would have liked them with breakfast. The light to our ceiling fan kept randomly turning on, once in the middle of the night. It scared us to death. We ended up just keeping the fan off altogether.

The food, the room, the waiter service both at the beach and inside the hotel, the café, the candy shop, the kids’ area, the restaurants, the daily activities were all excellent. We found staff offering a breakfast package at the Hyatt hotel, but it wasn’t a daily thing; whenever they saw us it was uncomfortable and annoying that they kept insisting even after we said no.

I liked the beach area and the food was very good. The buffet staff didn’t appeal to me; they always want to sell things in the lobby and there is some misinformation about the day’s events. I feel there were fewer amenities to make it more family‑friendly.
