“Great view, great staff”
The place is friendly, spotless, and in an excellent spot – it’s our second year staying here. The staff greeted us warmly and served a fantastic welcome drink, and breakfast was good.
“Yeri ve manzarasi muthis ama otel vasat”
The location is fine. The only issue is that at 6 a.m. you wake up to the monkeys’ chatter, which can be quite annoying; the rooms have no shower curtains, the bathrooms are large, the rooms are small, and there’s no small balcony inside the room.
We paid €80 for a single night right on the beach, expecting a great stay, but it turned into the worst experience in Hiriketiya. The room looked nothing like the photos: a filthy fan, a shabby bathroom, yet we shrugged because we just wanted to sleep. Heavy rain hit, the power cut out twice, and after it was fixed, water started dripping from the ceiling onto our bed and luggage, and also from the bathroom ceiling. I called the person in charge, who instead of fixing anything sat down for a “little weed cigarette” with a random guy in our room, chatted for a while, then casually said, “Yes, we’ll look into it.” When I demanded a refund, the manager offered a 50 % discount and a move to another villa, but I told him at 11 p.m. after all that we shouldn’t have to pay at all, that we should be compensated. We left once the rain stopped, which was more than two hours, and fell asleep exhausted. In the morning, an employee in a cap was shouting and swearing at the staff downstairs. After a discussion I called the manager from the previous night, who said, “I didn’t sleep because of you, and my boss told me I have to pay for the room myself, so get out of the room now.” I’m furious and will never return. Stay away!
This property has only three or four rooms, and I stayed in Room 1, which offered an amazing sea view. There’s a nice restaurant downstairs for food and drinks. Beyond that, it feels more like a guesthouse than a full‑service hotel, with no entertainment or extra amenities. I checked out after two days because I got bored, but the staff were wonderful and treated me like family. Hopefully next year they’ll add more facilities and a bit more privacy.

The only good thing was the location. The bathroom had no hand soap and they wouldn’t give me what I asked for. There was no coffee in the room, and when I requested it they said they would bring it but never did. The overall vibe was terrible, just like the staff in the restaurant’s accommodation. The music played until midnight, and in the morning the monkeys were noisy. The whole night was loud, making sleep practically impossible.
