“Overstated rating, several issues need addressing”
The location is convenient for Etna and Taormina. The property feels overrated for its score. The exterior grounds are genuinely lovely, surrounded by greenery and well kept, but that quality doesn’t translate inside. Housekeeping relies heavily on bleach but misses basics: cobwebs left untouched, dust under beds, hair on floor and sink. Rooms are small, windowless, so no natural ventilation; walls poorly insulated, so we could hear neighbors’ conversations even late at night. The pool bottom is black/dark, clearly not cleaned regularly; only filtration and chlorine seem used, no proper scrubbing. Food was average, pricing fair. Breakfast lacked fruit and the buffet wasn’t kept well stocked. When we raised these issues with the front desk/secretary, they responded defensively and dismissively instead of acknowledging or trying to fix them. A fair score would be about 7.5/10; the setting has real potential, but maintenance and guest‑service follow‑through need serious work. Good for families, not a quiet spot.
