The spot is nice and well‑located, with a quiet small garden and friendly staff. Only one person spoke a little English, which caused a few misunderstandings. Sometimes it was hard to find him… I received incorrect info about transport to the National Park, which made my trip there unnecessarily long and complicated. The location and vibe are good. The receptionist didn’t know what was happening and kept asking if you had checked in. The hostel was often overbooked and guests were turned away even though they had bookings.

“Brilliant!”

The staff were lovely and the location great. We stayed before and after the Ala Kul Trek and could leave our bags with them while we were out. They had plenty of info on the trek and other local activities. It didn’t affect us, but it seemed there was a problem with overselling beds both times we stayed.

The hostel booked us a room two days ahead, but when we arrived it was already assigned to someone else who had extended their stay last minute; they never warned us beforehand. They offered a partner hotel that was dirty, which is totally unacceptable, and we later learned the same thing happened to other guests that day.
