Holiday Inn Temple Of Heaven Beijing by IHG

Nothing special. I did not like this hotel, especially regarding value for money. Inside it looks like a Soviet sanatorium. The pool is a disgrace and local kids train there; there is no guest relaxation zone. Everything is shabby and old. The rooms are also quite old, the air conditioning barely works, making it hard to sleep. Breakfast offers a wide range of dishes, but if you’re not Chinese you can only manage a couple of them. Desserts are all over‑dried, croissants are stone‑hard. We stayed at various Holiday Inn hotels in Beijing, and this one was the weakest. If possible, choose Holiday Inn Express nearby. At check‑in they forgot to give us welcome drink vouchers, so we had to go out and buy one ourselves. The staff were not very polite, and few spoke English. Still, the main issue is that it is expensive for such low quality.

“Disappointing Holiday Inn”

The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to assist, but the rooms stayed hot because the ACs didn’t work well; the very old building shows its age in the carpets and walls, the swimming pool is mainly used for classes so it’s not a great experience for guests, and the location is right in the middle of old residential buildings, so the view isn’t great.

The hotel is quiet and very calm, sits close to the historic city centre, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby.

The location was great, but the pool, advertised as a place to relax, wasn’t because lessons were happening, and communication was difficult due to the English‑to‑Chinese barrier.
