The design is interesting and the furnishings are good quality. There’s plenty of space and the bathroom is great. The periodic sewage smell is awful, and the staff communication is poor.

The cave‑like rooms gave us a magical vibe that went beyond what we imagined, and the staff handled everything smoothly, letting us in before the official check‑in. Matera itself is stunning, and we truly enjoyed our time here, so we’d gladly recommend it. We did wish for a bit more privacy around the shower, since it was only separated from the room by glass. Directions to the place could have been clearer, because we spent a while trying to locate it. And, as expected in a cave room, the humidity was higher and ventilation limited.

The location and the grotto‑like atmosphere are great. The caves lack proper ventilation, and the constant dampness is unpleasant.

The staff were friendly and helpful from the start. I booked the cave room, which turned out to be a real cave and a beautiful space. However, the open wardrobe with duvets in plastic bags spoiled the room’s aesthetic. There was no window, even though I was told a week before that there would be a door with a window, but there wasn’t. The damp smell is understandable for a cave room, but a dehumidifier would make it healthier since there’s no window. For the price you pay, some improvements are needed.
