Located at the Sea Point Promenade, The Winchester Hotel by NEWMARK offers Atlantic coastline views, a pool, and an Italian-style courtyard surrounded by palm trees and fountains. The hotel features original Cape Dutch décor, air-conditioned rooms with satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities, and modern bathrooms. It's a 10-minute drive to V&A Waterfront and Cape Town's centre, with shuttle services to Cape Town International Airport.

Everything was perfect: the location, the facilities, the staff.

The location is excellent, right in front of the promenade. The breakfast buffet is great and the restaurant offers a good variety of dishes. Rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. The staff are friendly, and the bar is well equipped. Management seems to have changed again, and the staff appear to have changed too. I’ve been coming for many years and notice the old friendliness is missing. Some freebies are no longer available, like the free shuttle to the V&A, and parking is charged separately.

The breakfast is very tasty and varied, the rooms look out over the ocean, the area feels safe, and the on‑site restaurant is good. The street in front of the building is heavily trafficked and the windows facing the street aren’t well insulated, but otherwise the rooms are very quiet. Better street‑side windows would help.
