I stayed a few blocks from the pub beside the carpark, and the place had everything I needed; the pub itself welcomed me warmly, served decent food, and offered a nice beer selection.

The price was cheap for the area, but the room was only a reasonable size and the shower was tiny; the walls were very thin and the neighbour kept snores, while the staff mistakenly gave me a room that was already occupied.

Getting here was easy and there was plenty of on‑site parking; the food was really good and the staff were very attentive and polite, so I would definitely return if I need accommodation in the area.

The staff were great and the food offered good value, yet I had booked a family room for an event at the nearby Memorial Arboretum, and 6 to 8 weeks before the weekend a friend joined, so I called the Old Peculier to add an extra person, which they agreed to and I paid the extra fee on arrival on 3rd October; when we got to the pub/hotel the extra guest hadn’t been added, but it was eventually sorted and payment made. When we went to the room it had only been set up for one person—towels, refreshments, etc.—and the hot water tap for the handbasin didn’t dispense hot water and dripped constantly, while the shower had very little heat; I can’t say if this indicates the condition of other rooms, but we were in room 3.

“Lovely stay, would stay again”

The twin room was lovely and had everything I needed, though the shower was a little bit small, which was fine for me but could be an issue for a bigger person.
