“Idyllic stay in private countryside.”
The stay was idyllic in a private countryside setting, the location and amenities were superb, I didn’t get to use the spa but still loved everything, and there was nothing to fault.

I had my own little area all to myself, which was great, but it got so hot during the day that a shade outside would have helped.

The setting was idyllic, stunning and peaceful, and the main bed was incredibly comfortable and cosy; everything we needed felt anticipated, making the stay feel like a unique, relaxing experience that made me feel privileged to be part of what Westerlands are creating. The Woodfire pit for meals was a lovely addition and everyone was friendly, though the put‑up beds were unsuitable for adults and far less comfortable than the main double bed—proper fold‑out beds would have made a big difference for my 6ft tall 18‑year‑old son. In the summer the yurt became intolerably hot and there was no outdoor shelter for us to sit out of the sun; a simple wooden pergola would have helped. I ended up under a hedge overhang, got sticky willies, which was a laugh but not ideal, and my husband got a bit burnt too. The information pack was helpful, but figuring out how to use and find the compostable toilets and shower took time and caused discomfort after a 12‑hour drive; an email with the pack plus a map would have avoided this.

The setting is beautiful with gorgeous views and a lovely walk through fields to The Cricketers pub 1.5 miles away. The yurt was comfortable, with a very private sitting area outside, and the compost toilet and shower were a short walk away—both very well built and rustic in style. Parking is easy and close to the yurt. I received an email weeks before our stay asking if I wanted a menu for their wood‑fired evening meals, I replied yes, but never heard back; another message sent later also received no reply. On arrival it was clear no food was being prepared—the dining experience wasn’t available. We hadn’t brought food for our evening meal as we expected to eat at the campsite, so we had to walk to the pub. Circumstances may have changed, but being told in advance would have helped.

It was such a wonderful place to stay after a long day walking the South Downs Way; the rugs and blankets to sit outside were thoughtful, and the view and lambs were lovely. The site is a bit off the trail, but a footpath leads directly from the village or you could take an Uber, which we did in the morning. Nothing negative.
