I didn’t like anything. The rooms were not what was shown online; they were filthy, had bugs, the beds were assembled from timber pieces and long nails, the couch’s screws were exposed and made of hard metal, there was hair and water in the shower as if someone had used it, the whole unit smelled like curry, the oven couldn’t be used because staff said it was a fire hazard so I couldn’t cook dinner for my kids, there were drug bags on the ground outside the door, and when staff were asked to fix these issues or give us our money back they argued with us saying that couldn’t be done. They eventually moved us to a different unit that was not any better. Definitely would not recommend staying here.

From the moment I arrived I saw black film over the windows and there was no in‑person interaction. Opening a filthy door to a room that smelled mouldy and dirty. Should I keep going? This place needs to be condemned by the council! There was no deadbolt, mirror, facecloths or dining chairs, let alone a couch. It was filthy with paint over mouldy walls, dripping windows with mould, burnt‑out power sockets, sticky drawers and no extractor fan over the oven. I’m not sure the towels or linen were even clean! The listing looks nothing like the halfway house it is.

The only good thing was how close it was to all our planned activities. First, we were supposed to be given a ground‑level room, but it was an upstairs apartment. The number to call for support wasn’t listed anywhere. There were a few numbers on the office door to call, but we were told the room number was unlocked and where the key could be located. The entire apartment was filthy. As a commercial cleaner by trade I was disgusted. The light switch surroundings were dirty; I even took before and after photos of the light switch area to document the difference. There were filthy finger marks on all walls and windows, unvacuumed floors, mold in the bathroom and around all of the windows. The advert states a coffee machine, but there was only a jug to boil hot water. The advert photos show what appears to be a complimentary litre of orange juice and a small bottle of wine, but none of that was available. Pricing-wise we could’ve gotten cheaper elsewhere if there had been a vacancy. We chose 301 Bealey Ave for its central location, but the state of the room was a huge letdown. I definitely would not recommend it to others.

It was nice, had parking and a kitchen, and the bed was comfortable. The door didn’t lock properly and there was no staff on site; when I got there I had to ring and there was no key to the room either.
