The facilities and the staff’s interest in training us were great, but the location is all over the place.

The location was excellent and made getting around easy, the facilities were complete, the front‑desk team were friendly and professional, and Cici was attentive and helped upgrade my room; the room was clean, the large window let in plenty of light and the whole experience was very comfortable. The value for money was high and I was very satisfied, so I’d recommend staying here.

The room was spacious with a huge, comfortable double bed; extra space for an additional fee was also handy for those who like it—very firm mattress and a pillow stuffed with buckwheat. The air‑conditioning was powerful, water supplies were replenished, and housekeeping was excellent. Breakfast was a Chinese buffet that was very interesting, offering non‑spicy options and excellent coffee. The reception spoke English and used a phone translator for Russian, which worked well. The hotel is opposite a large shopping mall where you can buy many interesting items and enjoy great food, including Peking duck and pastries that are beyond praise. The room on the 21st floor offers a spectacular view of the park and mountains, and on clear days you can see the Summer Palace. Sound insulation is excellent. The location is a bit far from the city centre, but we underestimated Beijing’s scale when booking. The pool is heavily chlorinated, very different from the Russian hotel spas we’re used to—towels aren’t provided, people don’t splash or relax as usual but instead swim methodically along lanes. That wasn’t for us. If we had known, we would have booked without the pool and closer to the central business district. Now we know.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good with plenty of options, and the rooms were clean. The gym was run by a private company, open only from 8 am to 10 pm and crowded with non‑hotel guests. The pool area was also full of non‑hotel guests. The bar closed at 10 pm (perhaps due to Chinese law, not sure) and there was no 24‑hour room service. Other than that, a very good hotel.
