Ήταν εξαιρετικά όλα και οι οικοδεσπότες αληθινά ζεστοί και φιλόξενοι άνθρωποι! Λόγω της τοποθεσίας το ξενοδοχείο έχει μια πανέμορφη θέα στη λίμνη και το βράδυ στα φώτα της πόλης

“A warm mountain home above Ioannina”

Arktos is one of those places you remember long after the trip. The hotel sits in the quiet stone village of Ligkiades, high on the slope of Mount Mitsikeli, with a wide view over Lake Pamvotida and Ioannina below. And yet the city is only about 15 minutes away by car, so you get the mountains and the town at the same time. The owner is the heart of this place. She welcomed me like a guest in her own home, not a booking number. Breakfast was a real feast: homemade pies, local cheese, honey, fruit, everything fresh and generous. She even packed what was left for my road trip the next day. That kind of care is rare. The room was spotless, comfortable and quiet, the kind of silence you only get in the mountains. The hotel is cosy and full of character, with a fireplace that must be wonderful in winter, when the village is covered in snow. In summer it is a perfect escape from the heat of the valley, noticeably cooler up here. If you are visiting Ioannina, Zagori or the Vikos Gorge, don't stay in the city. Stay here. And stay longer than one night, I wish I had. Nothing else. Only that I had to leave so soon.

Ευχαριστηθήκαμε τη διαμονή μας από κάθε άποψη. Το δωμάτιο είναι ευρύχωρο και καθαρό, κυρίως, όμως, μας έμεινε η άνεση του κρεβατιού. Το πρωινό ήταν καλό και σε συνδυασμό με τη θέα ήταν πραγματικά μια όμορφη εμπειρία. Η κυρία Κατερίνα ηταν φιλόξενη και πρόθυμη να μας προσφέρει ό,τι ζητήσαμε! (Κάνει και φοβερές πίτες). Η πρόσβαση στο κατάλυμα ήταν εύκολη, υπάρχουν πινακίδες μπαίνοντας στο χωριό που σε οδηγούν κατευθείαν εκεί

“Aspettative disattese.”

From the room, the view was the only good part of the stay. The lady who welcomed us was not very friendly because I had arrived after the maximum check‑in time, even though I had informed her. The breakfast did not meet expectations, and when we asked for a cappuccino instead of the coffee she offered, she snorted at us for both days. The hotel’s location was inconvenient to reach, steeply uphill according to Google Maps, even though the owner had previously suggested a slightly easier alternative. Overall, the stay was unsatisfactory.
