“Good overnighter”

It was fine and on route. I expected a winery, arrived on the weekend, no winery. A short trip to Issacea gave me good restaurants and the nearby Cocos monastery is worth visiting, but the guys took us on a dirt road. Heavy truck—no issues, but for a light car it would be somewhat worrying. The waste flow to septic was fine but some odors were present in the restroom. Also the hot water works but it takes a bit of waiting to reach. Some free dogs inside walls, but pretty used to people. Scary nonetheless. And beautiful.

The place is cozy and quiet, with all the essentials in the rooms. I spotted a charging port for electric cars at the parking lot, which might matter to some. It’s literally at the town’s entrance, only about 15‑20 minutes from the border crossing. A solid spot to stay and unwind after a long drive across the border, and there’s a Russian‑speaking manager on hand.

The building looks nice in a lovely area that could really grow as a tourist spot. A handful of small tweaks could make a big difference.

Checked in late at night, everything was clean and cozy. I liked everything.

The room is fine. The name of the pension is a huge misnomer: there’s no winery or vineyard to serve the pension. The worst thing is the sewage smell in the bathroom that spread throughout the room even with the balcony door open. The balcony door couldn’t lock, creating a safety issue. Anyone could access the room from the fire escape stairs.
