“La Perla -Beautiful hotel and employees but wrong manager”
The employees and local coordinator, Mr. Confort, are the best assets of the hotel; they’re happy, friendly, polite, effective, efficient, and work hard to make customers feel at home. The hotel is small but well maintained, secure, and very clean, with praise for maintenance, security, garden, cleaning, and restaurant teams. It’s the right size for those who want a real local experience yet still feel comfortable. It’s sad to see that senior management contracts a local manager who acts like a watchdog and not a competent manager. The local manager treats the hotel team poorly and lacks life experience to understand how to treat people and run a business. He needs a lot of training to learn his profession and proper social interaction. It’s not his fault to be in the management position; it’s the fault of senior management for choosing a badly trained, socially unskilled watchdog to manage a local hotel facility. The hotel’s business does not collapse because of the excellent management skills of the local coordinator, Mr. Comfort. He effectively manages the local team and tries to minimize the disastrous attitude of the local manager. Two examples of the local manager’s wrong attitudes: 1 – he would pass by the glass doors of the units on the ground floor and inspect what people were doing inside. The major problem was that sometimes my wife was leaving the toilet and shower, and when she looked straight, the manager was at the door looking inside the room. My wife became uncomfortable doing things inside the room, especially when she was dressing up; 2 – the air‑conditioning of the rooms does not definitely turn off when the customer uses the remote control to turn it off. Because there were power outages at the hotel, when there was a power outage, the air‑conditioning would turn on again and start cooling down the room. We addressed the problem of all air‑conditioning in the hotel to management, and the management knew the problem and instead of instructing the customers, decided that every time a customer left the room, the manager instructed the security team to go to the main switch at the back of the room, outside the room, and turn the electricity off.
