Last‑minute booking, ideal for driving into the city. Staff were super friendly, food in the restaurant was excellent. I had the roast beef, Karen suggested the pepper sauce instead of gravy, and champ instead of mash. It was really enjoyable. The bar had a quiz on. It wasn’t for us but there was no way to avoid it if you wanted to have a drink and chat. 8

Dinner was excellent in presentation, taste, and the staff went above and beyond to attend to every need, interacting with us throughout the meal; breakfast was plentiful, clean, pleasant, and the staff were helpful, while the rooms were spotless and fully equipped for a very comfortable stay.
