Located in downtown Shanghai, Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Nanpu by IHG is a 10-minute walk from Lancun Road Subway Station (line 4 and 6) and a 15-minute drive from Lujiazui Financial District and Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Spacious rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, cable TV, and safety deposit boxes.

The location was convenient, the staff were polite, and the rooms were clean. I had been traveling in China, came to Shanghai from Beijing, and had stayed at Holiday Inn before with no problems. We stayed for five nights. Overall, there were no complaints about convenience, but I had complaints about the staff. I booked with payment on arrival and paid in cash upon arrival. Everything was fine until the day before departure when the key card was blocked, and the reception said I had to pay an additional 485 CNY. They couldn’t explain the reason—whether it was an early check‑in (we arrived after 14:00) or a deposit. After an hour of arguing and investigation, I paid the money and went back to my room. When I returned home, I contacted support; they first said they had mistakenly taken it for early check‑in, but after my request for evidence they replied there was no mistake and it was a deposit that would be refunded. Two weeks passed and nothing was returned. I won’t be upset over losing those 485 yuan, but I won’t stay at Holiday Inn again and I don’t recommend it, although it wasn’t the case in Beijing, maybe it’s just this hotel. The breakfasts are bland, the selection is less than in Beijing, but they’re tasty and you can always find something to eat. The sockets are Chinese standard. Only euros in the bathroom.

The location is good because it is closer to the exhibition centre. The breakfast is mainly Chinese; we expected a continental breakfast. The varieties are the same every day.

The staff are polite, the breakfasts are very good with something for everyone, and the price matches the quality. The corridors and rooms are a bit too dark.
