“Homely accommodation”

The historic vibe of the pub felt period‑like even though the facilities were modern, and the building’s evolution was obvious; we didn’t expect huge open spaces. We stayed during a heatwave and the fan in the room was a welcome relief, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only real issue was the heat, which they did their best to manage; the bathroom had too little shelf space so we used the windowsill, and with the window open the risk of dropping something out was high—no heatwave, less risk.

“Lovely overnight stay”

The rooms were a good size and the staff were very friendly and helpful, but the floorboards were very noisy and the cleanliness of areas like radiators needs improvement; otherwise it was very good.

The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast room offered a nice morning experience with good coffee, pastries, and overall a very good stay; the chap at reception was very helpful and friendly.

“The Chequers Maresfield would recommend”

The pub was really nice, the evening meal main courses were good. Staff very helpful, accommodating, good customer, service and great professionalism. The desserts were average as they were shop bought and not homemade. The bathroom needs to be fixed, the toilet seat coming off, the toilet roll holder fell off the wall, the shower screen leaks so flooded the bathroom floor. The king size bed, was two singles beds together, so uncomfortable in the middle. Needed a thick king-size mattress topper to reduce the sag in the middle
