The hotel’s location is convenient, a 6‑minute walk from the train station and only 30 minutes from Zurich, which is great for us with Swiss travel passes as a starting point for exploring northern Switzerland. Horgan village sits by Lake Zurich, peaceful and beautiful; while waiting for trains (sometimes about half an hour apart), my family and I would run to the lakeside to explore. I’m glad this was my first time in Europe and I had such a great stay. Every morning I looked forward to pulling back the curtains and seeing the town’s morning view. The hotel seems to have a long history, but I liked most the warm hospitality of the owner couple, making guests feel at home. This Swiss trip’s highlight was the accommodation. The value for money is excellent. Breakfast was abundant, smoked salmon was fresh and tasty, and the owner sometimes asked if we needed help making hot tea or chocolate. Nearby there are several restaurants and a supermarket. We stayed twice; on the second visit I realized the hotel provides shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, but the first time I didn’t find shower gel and thought it wasn’t provided. Next time if something is missing, I believe we can just ask. The hotel has no elevator, so stairs are required, which might need staff assistance for those who need it. I love the church bells that ring at the hour; it feels sacred and solemn. Though my family had no issues, the sound can be heard in the room, so those who are easily disturbed by noise might want earplugs.
