Pension u Svateho Jana

The room’s setup and furnishings were fine, and the staff were friendly and pleasant. There was a fridge in the room. Breakfast was modest, but you could pick what you wanted. The restaurant was on site and parking was right in front of the hotel. A car trip to Hradec’s center is a quick drive, and the pension is “in the village” yet easily reachable from the motorway. The rooms are in the attic, so I had to climb a few steps to get home. I wish they had mosquito nets for the windows.

The buildings look nice and haven’t faded. Unfortunately, I wasn’t fully satisfied with dinner. The dumpling soup was, in my opinion, far too salty, seemed reheated and possibly re‑seasoned. While reheating itself isn’t a problem if the taste is right, the saltiness was truly unpleasant. I also ordered a steak with mushroom sauce. The meat itself was cooked well and I was pleased with its quality, but the mushroom sauce was again excessively salty, which greatly diminished the overall impression of the meal. At 350 Kč for a steak, I’d expect not only well‑prepared meat but also a balanced flavor in the whole dish. The over‑salted sauce is a pity, especially when the steak itself was good. I don’t want to be overly critical, but at this price level I’d anticipate a stronger focus on quality and, above all, flavor balance. I hope this was just a one‑off issue, otherwise it would be a shame that good food was ruined by too much salt.

“Super”

Beautiful accommodation with the possibility of a late check‑in. The air‑conditioning worked well. The staff were very helpful.

“Výborné místo cena/vykon”

The receptionist was pleasant, there were fans, we got water because of the heat, and the room met my expectations. The air‑conditioning isn’t there :( but at least they gave us a fan.
