“"Operational Manager" hat mit Belästigung meinen Aufenthalt zerstört. Ich wollte nur noch weg.”
The location is quite central, with Malioboro Street just around the corner! Most of the staff (not all—see my negative post) were friendly and spoke fairly good English. The sleeping area was relatively clean. There is a lobby where a few tours are displayed, but they are not organized by the hostel (and no help is given). The “Operational Manager” (probably the head of the accommodation, I got his name from the WhatsApp group) harassed me. He woke me up first, even though I had extended my stay and told a staff member (if the team communication fails, it’s not my fault!), and then kept me awake for a long time “because they had to check it.” Later, when I had to pay the extension in cash, he touched my leg and was generally very aggressive, both physically and verbally. Extremely creepy and unpleasant! I felt unsafe even in the women’s sleeping area, where male staff would enter without knocking. I just wanted to leave. One can question what the staff think when they come into rooms while women are sleeping (for example, they start tidying before check‑out time—it's fine to clean, but they should announce a time window and not come unannounced while guests might be getting dressed or resting after a trip). The toilets were always wet, likely because of the adjacent showers where the shower curtain does little. The house is extremely sound‑proof; you can hear people snoring in the hallway, the TV from the lobby, car and scooter engines, and the nearby mosque where prayers are held at any time. The doors are also very loud. Guitar lovers will notice that the guitar is just for decoration and has no strings. I also find it disgusting that you’re forced to wear these communal slippers (athlete’s foot…). Many promises were not kept—e.g., they advertised a “Movie Night,” but nothing happened. No one helps when booking tours.
