A middle‑aged guy took this old house, turned it into a popular guesthouse and also used a separate part as his home. During the two nights I stayed there, there were other guests, which shows how popular it is. The price was good for what you get. For a place that relies on public transport, it’s a winner! The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The bedroom was large and traditional. The kitchen was clean and usable (I didn’t cook, but I brought a sandwich and there were utensils). Overall a solid choice. It’s obviously not a luxury hotel and the conditions are shared. The house is quite old, either bought or inherited. I’m really grateful that I could use his washing machine for free! The area is nice and interesting for a walk.

A very traditional Japanese house.

The house was cozy and in a strategic spot, especially if you’re driving a rental like we did; the host was helpful and kind. However, the thin paper walls meant we were woken at 6 a.m. by two guests who left early, which depends on who stays with you.
