“You’ll get surprised.”
The place was really unique, especially the Fox’s Lair Bar in the basement – it was fun and entertaining.

No breakfast, as the place is a “Bed and Bar.” The Fox’s Lair a few steps down from the entry turned out to be a pleasant find, offering good music and a friendly mix of regulars and visitors. Our room—#3—was comfortable and a bit quirky, built into a historic home with tastefully curated furnishings; the water was hot, and the stairs to the upper floor were interesting. No elevator, which fits the historic feel. The city is running a major underground utilities project, making the front of the house on Telfar Street hard to navigate, but the owner gave clear directions to the large rear parking area that leads to the rear garden entry and courtyard. A coffee maker is in the room and also in the main hall; perhaps offering baked goods in the morning would be a good idea, since there don’t seem to be walkable breakfast spots nearby. The stairs were a challenge for our 80‑year‑old bodies, but overall it was a good experience and well priced.

The location is great and the vibe is eclectic. Live music downstairs, plenty of social space, and off‑street parking.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was nice with traditional furniture, and I loved the retro pink bathroom.

The spot is truly unique, and the hostess greeted me warmly, recalling a brief chat from three years ago. The staff is fantastic, and I’ll definitely return. The room feels cozy, and even though the temperature hit the high 90s, it was a pleasant escape. On the downside, a single stray shower stream hit the wall, which I managed by adjusting the curtain, and the freezer in the mini‑fridge didn’t keep items frozen—though that was partly my fault—while the main fridge kept food cold just fine.
