The Explorean Cozumel All Inclusive

On the day we arrived we couldn’t use any hotel services or food until 2:00 pm even though it was an all‑inclusive; if you wanted anything you were charged extra. They tell you activities are included in the price, but only those that happen that day; you can’t choose which activity to do and on arrival and departure day they don’t recommend doing any. The reception staff’s attitude left a lot to be desired, everything was a no. The sheets were a bit torn on one of the beds. On the second day we stayed the only pool was closed because the day before there were feces, and while they claim all the American Party facilities are available, they forget that you pay to use those facilities; you might be able to use another hotel, but we chose Explorean and instead of offering something extra for that situation the hotel absolved itself of responsibility. Because of this we asked for a late check‑out the next day and were only given an hour in two of the three rooms we had, and that only after we spoke to management. Finally, the beach pool at the American Party could be fixed because all the tiles were falling off and they could put some sand in the beach area.

“Ótima hospedagem em Cozumel!”

The stay in Cozumel was amazing, surrounded by forest, all‑inclusive meals were excellent, there was a private pool, and we could also use the Fiesta Americana pool and Beach Club. Island tours were included in the room rate and the staff were excellent—a real differentiator! My room had a bad mold smell, probably because it was in the forest and didn’t get much sun. It was really hard for me!

The staff were very friendly. The activity guides included in the stay—Daniel, Néstor, and Vega—were the best the hotel has, full of energy, attentive, and professional. Among the waiters, young Edwin gave excellent service, and another colleague (whose name I don’t remember) learned my dietary restrictions from the first minute. Housekeeping did a hard and wonderful job, generally under‑recognized, but always smiling and incredibly helpful. The vegan menu they claim to have on all restaurants, both on the website and confirmed in person at our arrival, DOES NOT EXIST. At the start of our stay, there was no vegan menu, and some restaurants barely had a plant‑based option, which disappointed me a lot and made me lose trust in the chain. I must acknowledge that after I expressed my dissatisfaction with such a lack of honesty toward guests, they made a partial effort to fulfill what they claim to have. However, during the 15 nights we stayed, they never developed the “Vegan Menu,” which, by the way, is still listed on their website. It’s a total disrespect from management to not provide the necessary means for the “Vegan Menu” to truly exist, and to stop being just a couple of plant‑based options that sometimes aren’t even on the menu. As a vegan, I don’t limit myself to a plant‑based diet; veganism is a philosophy that fiercely defends justice and ethics toward all animals (human and non‑human), and this is unfair treatment. We’re not talking about a budget establishment, precisely.

“Vacaciones en familia”

It’s a very quiet hotel, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is very attentive. The food is tasty. The plus is that you can use Fiesta Americana restaurants and facilities. The humidity keeps your clothes from drying, so you can’t get your laundry dry. All restaurants are à la carte, so it takes time to get food. You have to be patient with that situation. The hotel membership staff are extremely insistent.

“Ganz gut - aber auch ganz schön teuer”

The hotel sits in a very quiet setting surrounded by a lovely garden, and the rooms are well insulated so you can sleep soundly even with the air conditioning off; the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, and although there is no beach, you can easily reach the sea for direct snorkeling. The nearby Fiesta Hotel, which you can use, doesn’t bother you. On the downside, all the restaurants are not recommended; they only offer Chilean wine of poor quality, and an extra bottle of Mexican wine starts at €70. The food quality is also disappointing and far from Mexican, being completely bland.
