We were welcomed into a spacious and comfy room, and a large shaded garden surrounds the house; the hosts’ hospitality and their delicious Sri Lankan cuisine also left a strong impression.

The hosts were wonderful and friendly, and the breakfast was hearty and tasty; you can walk to the sea, and the terrace is a nice spot to sit and drink coffee. However, the restaurant nearby played loud music until 11 p.m., making it hard to fall asleep, and you should remember that this is not a hotel but a room in a residential house where the owners live.

The hostel met all my expectations; the host and her daughters were super helpful and courteous, the breakfast was abundant and delicious, and the dinner offered by the host—traditional cuisine that was incredibly tasty—is highly recommended; the beach is a 20‑minute walk away.

The bathroom was nicely renovated, the building has charm with fixtures and artwork created by a resident, the staff accommodated our simple requests, and the electric mosquito swatter was a godsend; being away from the busy road made it quite peaceful. It’s a tropical area, so watch out for mosquitoes at dusk, and note that only cash is accepted.
